Goodbye...

Hello, everyone. In this post, I am going to end this post with a farewell, as we completed our blog according to our tasks. We were involved in preparing a lesson guideline for Corpus, continued with vocabulary teaching flipped classroom and grammar teaching classroom projects, and then, AR project which enabled us to travel to Krakow without getting out of our homes, and lastly, we designed a WebQuest for making students have a chance to fulfill a technology-based project. I cannot compare which one is more valuable for our future occupation, but I know that I will use each of these clever techniques for my students.
I really hope that our project that I designed with Ali Görkem will also be helpful for you. Take care until next time!

A Technology-Based Project!

Hello, everyone! This week, as a last one, we created a WebQuest, in order to provide students with a technology-based project. This tool is composed of approximately 4 steps: Introduction, Task, Process, and Evaluation, where we respectively introduce our topic and project, give students the task in a scenario, give the steps and instructions with informative video and pictures, and show the rubric according to which they will be evaluated.

Our project is having students choose 3 historical places in Istanbul, where they live, and shoot a documentary about them for their twin school friends by adding short interviews with people around the places.
Here, you can have a detailed look at our work.
We used Zunal for creating a WebQuest, you can also use QuestGarden as an alternative. The only problem we faced was some kind of technical problems with inserting photos.
I and Görkem prepared the rubric, I prepared the Introduction and Task part, Görkem prepared the Process part and shot a video introducing Canva, and posters for the use of ARloopa and QR and Barcode Scanner.
I think it is a perfect way of making students feel that they are accomplishing tasks step by step, which leads to a valuable project. Students will find the chance to get informed about the historical places they have maybe never seen in their lives.
You can have a look at my partner Ali Görkem's post about this project.
Have a nice week!

A Distant Travel to Europe!

Wouldn't be great to travel to anywhere around the world without even getting out of our homes? Here is a chance for you to do so! We are integrating AR technology into education. How? After signing up for one of the AR applications (ours is ARloopa, in this case) we integrate some informative/cultural videos into related photos, which enables students to witness the beauty of the aimed place/structure/festival, etc.

The city which I and my partner Ali Görkem aimed is Krakow, Poland. We first designed an     informative sheet which gives some clues about the city, we continued with a video that gives the general impression and which also requires students to use the app. We then prepared worksheets for 3 places (St. Mary's Basilica, Wieliczka Salt Mine, and Wawel Castle), a local food (pierogi), and a festival (The Dragon Parade) each of which includes some general and personal questions. Here you can watch our introduction video:

I and Ali Görkem prepared the worksheets via Canva and found the videos on YouTube we then used ARloopa for our AR experience, I shot the introduction part and Ali Görkem edited it via VegasPro. The only thing that got us trouble was the expiration date of the videos on the app. But we created new accounts and shot the videos immediately. Other than that, it was a very cultural and fun experience to explore such a marvelous city. You can check our work below.
See you next time!

CONTINUING WITH FLIPPING THE GRAMMAR

Hello everyone! If you remember, we flipped the vocabulary lesson last week. This week, we continue with our grammar subject ''should'' through the topic ''illnesses''. We first give brief information on the structure of this subject and how we can use it. Then we go on with our doctor-patient dialogues shot by us and our families.

As we are experienced from the last week's task, this task did not challenge us too much. The only thing was waiting for the family members to get prepared for the video :) I shot the introduction part, 5 dialogues of the whole, the game part where we play ''Heads Up'' with my sister, and prepared the worksheet where students need to fill in the blanks using the right form of should. And my partner, Ali Görkem, shot the informative video in which he explains the structure and the use of should, he shot the rest of the 5 dialogues.

He also edited our videos using Vegas Pro . He used OBS for the structure part. I prepared our handout via Canva . I recorded my voice through the recorder of my phone. I cut a new moon out of a handcrafted paper and needled it to my shirt and used a little notebook for pretending to prescribe meditation. Ali Görkem also used furniture such as a table lamp, pillboxes, a notebook in order to make it a more realistic atmosphere. I printed out 10 pictures depicting illnesses to play the game. We also recommend students looking at Skell for wider usage of should.

LET'S FLIP IT!

Hello again, folks. I hope you are well and healthy since our last meeting. For this week, I and Ali Görkem prepared a lesson video for our ''flipped classroom''. To explain briefly, we flip the content of the lesson by teaching the subject through a video before coming to class and reinforcing the subject through activites in the classroom. I think it is very fun for students to observe their teacher through a colorful and an informative video. The only problems might be technological problems and some students coming to class without watching the video. For the latter one, students will see in class that they should watch the video in order to keep pace with the class. And this application will lead students to have more time for practice in the classroom.
It was a very fun process to shoot our vocabulary lesson video with our siblings and choosing movies. I shot the introduction part, one of the dialogues and explanation of the 3 activites we created on Wordwall. My partner, Ali Görkem made the introduction of the movies and related genres. He also edited the video through Vegas Pro and shot one of the dialogues with his brother. And we uploaded our lesson to Youtube. And here is our masterwork!:)

And these are our aforementioned activities:

https://wordwall.net/play/16122/641/951
https://wordwall.net/play/16126/192/668

We had almost no problems except for the level of voice but it was not a big problem. Apart from that, it was a valuable and informative experience to observe how we can apply this type of lesson into our future classes.

OUR ''CORPLAN''!

As a kilometer stone, we integrate corpus into language learning in the classroom.

What is Corpus?

Oxford Learner's Dictionaries define corpus as ''a collection of written or spoken texts''.

How to Use It?

In the classroom, corpora enable students to learn by themselves the mentioned subject. They will be able to observe any word in any context in any form!

The Corpus Plan My Friend and I Created

We used a preparatory school student's book as a source to prepare our material. We prepared an inductive material that leads students to discover the features of the language by themselves;  which provides data-driven learning for them.  We direct them to search for examples for may, might, must, and can. This way, they become acquainted with the usage of them and aware of how these properties of the target language are used, with which they achieve language awareness.

HERE I AM AGAIN!

Welcome folks! This semester, I am continuing to share the tools I create for the Material Design Course, in which I will learn brand new types and styles just as I did in the Educational Technologies Course.

I am looking forward to conveying every thought and product I will come up with. Thinking about how beneficial these materials will be for my future students is truly breathtaking. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, you will find something for yourself, too!
